Transportation SolutionsTraffic congestion is a challenging issue for Dublin, given our unique geography. Dublin needs wholistic transportation solutions to ease our traffic. We have congestion surrounding our schools and on our city streets during commuting hours, and also during peak weekend times. As a member of the Wheels board, I continue to push for creative transit solutions to reduce single-car trips. I have helped the city and the school district locate alternate bus stops at our schools so buses and parents aren't competing for the same curb space. I'm so pleased we were able to get Wheels bus routes into Schaefer Ranch for our students, and also bring back both the Route 4 in Central Dublin and the Route 2 in East Dublin.
As a member of the Tri-Valley Transportation Council, I have worked to prioritize Dublin projects like the expansion of Dublin Blvd, the Iron Horse Trail Pedestrian Bridge, and the Tassajara Road Lane Alignment. I continue to lobby for the Fallon Rd highway overcrossing to be fixed and for improvements to the 580/680 interchange sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, those projects are under the control of outside agencies, and therefore the City of Dublin does not control their timing. I will continue to look for ways to fund more and more of our traffic lights to be connected via fiber to our smart network so that they can be adaptive and respond to ever-changing traffic conditions. In addition, I am pushing to set up resources for carpools; to schools, to work, to BART, to sports practices. There are many ways that carpooling can be used effectively if people have a safe and efficient way to connect with each other. I will continue the work that has already been started on safe walking and biking routes to school and expand those routes to the parks and shops in our city. In addition, I will continue to do everything in my power to make Valley Link a reality to reduce the traffic coming in to the Tri-Valley over the Altimont. [Return to Issues] |
