Local BusinessI will continue to strongly advocate for our local small businesses to help them thrive and grow in Dublin. In addition, I will work tirelessly with our economic development staff to attract larger commercial business to Dublin. This is a difficult time for retail and other brick-and-mortar businesses, and anything the city can do to streamline the permitting process when businesses are looking to get established, expand, add outdoor dining, etc., should be implemented. We need to make it as easy as possible for our local businesses to thrive. I'm very proud of what we managed to do during the pandemic. We've supported our local business with millions of dollars in loans and grants to ensure they could pivot and stay open. We will continue to do everything in our power to prop up our businesses so they can come out the other side.
As we work through the very complex negotiations to create the Downtown Dublin project, I will continue to ensure that the project focuses on the pedestrian-friendly dining and retail the residents of Dublin have been craving. This project will transform Dublin into a destination for diners, shoppers, and workers for decades to come. I will continue to promote and grow the programs that incentivize some of our older businesses to update their facades. In addition, we need to set policy that makes it more attractive for larger businesses to move to Dublin for their corporate offices. In my first term we have made strides in this direction with the Fallon East Economic Zone. I will push for outreach and policies that make Dublin attractive to high tech, bio tech, light manufacturing, and other companies. I will actively seek out as much business development as possible, to provide local jobs and good corporate partnerships with our city. [Return to Issues] |
